88. I made the 1st of my 3 art pieces.

I made these 2 simple signs a couple of weeks ago while I was playing around on the scroll saw.  I hadn't used it in a few years and I forgot that working with wood is fun and can turn your snot into wood filler.  These signs motivated me to add this goal to make (at least) 3 more in the next 1,001 days.

I decided to make a rooster sign.  Gretchen was against it (she's against a lot of stuff) but got on board quickly after her brother, Jon drew such an awesome looking bird for me to start with.  (Yes, I know that we need some pictures in the frames on the wall.)

I worked for about an hour on the scroll saw and got this...

Add some paint...

I painted the board and got help from my awesome wife with the letters.

Then I roughed it up with a sander to age it.

I also roughed it up here too.

I applied a walnut stain over the whole project to make it look worn and to better match our house.

Dunzo.  We've been in our house 8 months and we still have a lot of wall space open.  This goal is great because it will motivate me to make some new stuff to hang here.
In case you're wondering, Sun Valley is the name of our street.  Also, it's hard to tell in the picture, but there are a couple of pellets lodged into the rooster too.

Come see it in person sometime!
