All packed and ready to go!
We hit the beach first thing on Saturday morning. Other than a few showers on Friday night we had great weather the entire weekend. This is amazing considering the UNBELIEVABLE HOT summer we've had. Three cheers for lake effect!!!

Perfect day for a beach chair

LOVE swimming in Lake Michigan - what a beautiful lake!

 Our sandbox...err...camp site :)

Kohler-Andrae is a beautiful state park made up of mostly sand dunes. It makes for great conditions at the beach but back at the site with no running water the kids were completely filthy. All of us were covered in a fun dusty black sand - we ate the sand, slept with the sand, and brought a good amount of the sand home. ;)

Sleeping Beauties - Can you think of anything better than a nap on the beach, listening to the waves crash.

Casey ended up taking a trip to the emergency room on Sunday. He stepped on a piece of wood and it went all the way through the webbing near his big toe. But what a trooper - he was back later that day with his foot wrapped up in a bag ready to have some fun.

Lilly and Lily

Matt built a pretty great sand castle that unfortunately was ruined by a few toddlers.

Silly girls... these two have so much fun together!

Abby - the designated babysitter :)

Amy brought out some chips and homemade salsa and immediately a crowd formed.

The boardwalk - our walk to the beach.

Marlaina brought a craft for the kids and they loved it!

Calvin drew Superman and a fire truck... there was more to the story but I think those were the main points. ;)

The little kids (or round two as we sometimes call them) played adorable imaginative games. If I remember correctly Calvin was the prince, Lucy, Eva and Lucy H. were the princesses and Grayson was Spiderman. They played ring-around-the-rosie and danced on the tables.

We had a great campfire going both nights! We especially loved the gutsy raccoons that came to eat our food while we were right there.

After we packed up at our site we hit the beach one last time. The weather was beautiful again and Hazel loved being able to crawl around and play in the sand. I didn't really put her down until this point.

We were trying something... ;)

The boys playing frisbee in the lake

And a sleepy baby... she hardly ever falls asleep in my arms so this was a highlight of the camping trip.

We had a great weekend and we are so blessed by the amazing friendships that have formed out of our life-group.
