My marathon training's been going better than expected. After my brutal 20 miler last weekend, I didn't have high expectations for my 14 mile yawner this morning. As I was stretching in the driveway, I thought if I had a goal for the run the whole thing would be over with sooner. I decided to try to do the run in less than 2 hours. That's a nice round number. I wasn't exactly sure what that breaks down to pace-wise so I just tried to stay right at an 8:30 mile. I felt great! Once I got going I was really suprised how relatively easy it was to keep that pace. The weather cooperated - it was in the low 60's for the entire run and I was mostly in forests so the sun wasn't beating down on me either. I made the 7 mile turn around at 58:20 so I knew for the 2nd 7 miles, I had to do it in 1:01:40. I can do that! I cruised past the 13.1 mile point at 1:50:32 (personal best) and finished the full 14 miles at 1:57:50. That worked out to an 8:25 average. Getting better...
Also, I've decided to sign up for an indoor marathon at the Pettit Center in January. It's hard to think of something dumber than signing up for my second marathon before I've even completed my 1st but at least I know I'll be able to stay in shape through the winter.

Way to go Matt! I just finished a writing lesson and talked about how you said you had nothing to write about. I guess I was wrong and your "writer's block" is over. Thanks for the help with my lesson today though. It was good to have something practical to use. I can't wait to get up there tonight to see you guys!
I love you.
Keep on going. Having written goals is the most important part in achieving goals, so you're right on track. I love you very much.
