Last weekend we went to a pumpkin farm to pick out some pumpkins. Today, our small family carved them up. I've never carved a pumpkin before so I was really excited to make a cool design. I envisioned doing a complicated action shot of me punching Hank Steinbrenner in his fat face. I think I overestimated my carving artistry. In the struggle that was cutting off the top of the pumpkin, I realized I was not going to be able to do the masterpiece I'd hoped. Instead, I did the more conventional jack-o-lantern face. It turned out great. Lilly was a great help and liked to take out the seeds one by one. It was a lot of fun. Maybe next year, I'll really go for it and do an entire comic strip carving - (the hardest thing I could think of.)

Matt, I remember carving pumpkins growing up. All I remember though is using the big butcher knife to cut triangle eyes, and a triangle nose, then cutting out a zig-zag mouth. I do know we didn't do anything intricate, but know that we did at least carve something.
I believe you... no recollection here whatsoever though :)
Matt your pumpkin looks much better then Gretchen's! But don't tell her I said that :)
I actually think that Lilly did the best on hers. The detail that she put into it is pretty good for a 2 year old.
Eric is right! You just don't remember. I guess they weren't momentous occasions for you. We do have pictures somewhere though.
Lilly looks so big sitting on the bench!
These pictures are too cute! Lilly's hair is getting so long...
Matt, I heard you used a stencil... I'm not as impressed anymore. I'm a little disappointed to be honest :(
