Running's been going well. I did 18 miles on Saturday with no problems. I saw a GIANT coyote when I was 15 miles out. It was so big I thought it could be a wolf. Save your comments, I know it wasn't a dog- I'm not THAT much of a city boy. Even though it was scared of me and ran into the brush, I was wondering what I would do if it decided to chase me. I'd already been running for about 2 hours straight so I knew I probably couldn't outrun it. I wondered if I could climb a tree? Nope - also impossible. My legs were jelly. I decided that if it did attack me I'd have to just turn and battle. I don't think I'd have the energy to kick, so I'd just be doing a lot of slapping. Coyotes, be warned... I will slap hard if I have to...

There's no such thing as too many marathons, right?
Anyways, the run went well enough that I just registered for another marathon on Nov. 2nd up in Tomah, WI. It's the Rails to Trails Marathon and it takes place on the Elroy-Sparta bike path. I'm really excited to do another marathon. I've already decided not to put any time expectations on the run. I'm just going to go at an easy place and try to avoid cramping.
I won't write too much about them now, but I'm also registered to do a trail marathon in December in Indiana with my brother and an indoor marathon in January in Milwaukee. If everything goes well, I'll be doing 4 marathons in 4 months. Who's dummer than me?

A slap fight. I'm sure you would do well against a rabid wolf/coyote/house trained pooch.
Are you going to change your goals again now that you are doing so many marathons? 4 in 4 months, that is something that you will have on 99.99% of the rest of the world.
I can't wait to do our race. I'm interested to see what it is going to be like.
The mom is concerned that it might not be healthy for your body to be pushed that much in so short of a time. Are there any guidelines or studies done on the effects of running 4 marathons in 4 months not to mention the training required? Also, please don't go up against a coyote. I lost one of my beloved pet goats to a coyote. I don't want to lose a beloved boy. You are sooo much more precious. Can you tell that I love you????
Mom, didn't you read the part about the slapping? I can take care of myself.
Once again, Matt, you make me laugh out loud!
matt, can you please post a picture of you slapping a coyote? that would be a great addition to your story! :)
I agree with Josh, an action shot of that would definitely bring more street cred to this blog. I would love to see one added.
Ok, ok, when I slap a coyote, I'll take a picture and post it.
