Wauwatosa, WI - In what some are calling "a historical achievement", a local pair of Adidas Sequence running shoes will attempt to complete an unprecedented fifth career marathon. The shoes will be worn by Matt Weis of Wauwatosa in this weekend's Instep Icebreaker Indoor Marathon at the Pettit National Ice Center. The shoes, nicknamed "Holmes", will need to complete 96 laps around the Olympic speed skating oval to finish the momentous race. When asked about the significance of this achievement, Holmes replied, "I'm just happy to be out here. Most shoes don't get the opportunity to run in one marathon and here I am getting ready for my fifth!" The Adidas' owner, Matt Weis, is not as impressed. "Yeah, five marathons is a lot for one pair of shoes but come on, I'm doing most of the work. I mean, I don't want to rain on Holmes' parade but it's just a pair of shoes." Still others in the community are very excited that history may be made on Wisconsin soil. One area man responded, "Anything that puts Wauwatosa in the national spotlight is terrific! Go Holmes!" Holmes is cautious to count his chickens before they hatch. "Anything can happen. There's no guarantee that I'll finish this race. My owner is a pretty pathetic runner so unfortunately, a lot depends on him." Holmes has completed marathons in Chicago, Indianapolis, Memphis and Jackson, MS. The shoes are planning on retiring to the back of the closet after this weekend.

My shoes (unnamed) are up for the 3rd marathon this weekend. The Aurora papers haven't picked up on the story yet. We'll see if they make it there on Sunday morning for the coverage.
Okay Sherlock, better watch out, Flash will be there the day before to lay down the track in the half marathon. Watch out - this is Flash's first half so he will be one to keep your eye on!
Are these the shoes you want to dip in gold paint?
