23. Camp at Kohler-Andrae

Kohler-Andrae State Park, thanks for an awesome weekend!

The park is known for the giant sand dunes.  The dunes can grow grass and small plants, but still move over time.  Cal and I are walking on one of the many "cordwalks"  These are boards attached to a cable that are designed to move with the dunes.  It's really fun to see how much the walk has moved over time.

Lake Michigan is beautiful and gigantic.  It's hard to stand on the shore and believe that it really is a lake and not an endless ocean.

Lilly and Cal saying "Cheeeeeeeese!"

Cal was "digging" the sand (Did you catch the double-meaning?)

A great-looking couple celebrating 7 years of marriage!

Lilly's favorite thing about the beach was collecting seaweed and putting it in a big pile.

Lilly came out of the tent like this.  She said she's "Striking a pose".  Gretchen thinks she picked this up from Jadyn last weekend.

Lilly's first time roasting her own marshmallows.

They turned out GREAT!  Lilly finished her first and then she asked for another "but without a marshmallow or cracker."  Only kids can say stuff like that!

More walking on the cordwalk.

Climbing on one of the dunes.  It's hard to tell, but that's a pretty steep descent down to the water and the sand was HOT.

It rained while we were packing up the car, but other than that, we had great weather the whole time.  I really enjoyed spending so much time with my little family.  Lilly and Cal are getting so big so quick - I'm glad we had the weekend to make some more memories with them.

Gretchen put together this amazing video of our trip...

Isn't she soooo talented?!?

Looks like you did create good memories for your family. I remember going to Lake Michigan for vacations when I was a kid.
