Wicked started in San Francisco in 2003 before it became gigantic on Broadway and theaters all over the world. While Gretchen and I were in San Francisco, we got to experience the show's unbelievable homecoming.
We saw it at the Orpheum - just 7 blocks (through a rough neighborhood) from our hotel. The show was absolutely incredible! It tells the story of how the Wicked Witch of the West came about and her unique friendship with Glinda the Good Witch of the North. It will change how I watch the Wizard of Oz from now on. Also, the music was phenomenal!
What kind of guy wears jeans, a t-shirt and a hooded sweatshirt to a broadway show? Either somebody who's extremely confident in his appearance or somebody who didn't bring any type of dress clothes to San Francisco. I'm obviously the latter :) We were happy when we left the theater that I looked the least muggable in the crowd on our walk back to the hotel. Other than our speed walk back to the Westin, We enjoyed the show so much that we've already requested the soundtrack from the library and I'm sure we'll be singing Defying Gravity for many years to come!
