Today, I ran the Icebreaker Indoor Marathon at the Pettit Ice Center in Milwaukee. This was my 3rd year running this event - 2009 post 2010 post. I really enjoy this race and I'm proud to say that I've now done it every year that the race has been in existence. This year was a tough one for me. I've been doing P90x for the last few months and my running fell off significantly. I only ran 10 times total in the 2 months leading up to this race and only 2 of those runs were over 10 miles. I knew I was in shape enough to still finish the race, I also knew that it would be rough.
Here's some scenery from the race...
A turn.
A straight away.
My view to the left.
A sign that's typical at most marathons.
The race went okay. I was lucky to have the Packers/Bears game to look forward to afterward for extra motivation to finish. I ran at a slow, steady pace and finished in 4:35. I was sooo glad to be done. I've been ill-prepared for marathons before but this was the least prepared I've ever been for a 26 mile run. Several people who were both older and fatter than me beat me but it never dampened my mood. I have no marathons scheduled currently but if I sign up for another one, I'm going to put the miles in and train so that I can beat (most of) the fat people.

just found you through the icebreaker blog. Looking fwd to following your journey!
Love the pics! I ran the half and this was my 16th half, by far the most difficult mentally. I applaud you on running the full! Fulls are hard enough outside, I can't imagine on the track.
Way to go Matt, congrats on finishing another one!
