These movies are special to me because Gretchen and I saw them in the theater each Christmas back when we were dating. We hadn't watched them since we've had kids because it's a big time commitment - 3 movies @ 3 hours each!
We watched all 3 movies during Gretchen's last week of pregnancy with baby #3. It gave us something to get excited about after the kids went to bed and it helped pass the time while waiting for baby.
Luckily, Gretchen gets excited to watch the movies too. Sometimes we pause the movie just so we can get up and act out fight scenes. Sometimes I win, sometimes she wins. I'm usually Legolas.
I think I'll be able to enjoy these movies for a long time. They are so realistic and I think they'll stand the test of time that our kids will be able to enjoy watching them some day too :)
