Chicago Trip

Matt's new job has officially started! He had to work a few days in Chicago and they put him up at fancy schmancy hotel. I'd hate to see a fancy hotel go to waste so we piled in the van and went with him. He was actually excited to have us. What a sweetie. ;)

Cal falls asleep on the way down with Tigee Tiger on his lap and a smiley sister by his side. 

 The kids walked in and dumped all their toys on the floor. They felt right at home. 

 I was pretty worried about what the kids and I would do while Hazel napped but her crib fit in the closet! And thanks to Cal's turtle nightlight and a sound machine she was right at home and the kids and I could still play and talk in the room. Every hotel room should have a closet big enough to fit a crib! 

With Matt working the kids and I had the day to ourselves. We decided to walk around the city and see the sights. We headed over to the bean and only got slightly lost in a very sketchy neighborhood. :)

 From there we decided to walk over to Michigan Avenue. I promised the kids a trip to the Disney Store. By the time we got there Cal and Hazel had both fallen asleep so Lilly and I walked around the store for close to an hour waiting for them to wake up. 

We were having trouble getting Cal to wake up. He'd open his eyes but fall right back asleep. Finally I decided to wheel him over to the Lighting McQueen display... that did the trick! 

The kids each picked out a toy : Cal picked out Fin from Cars 2, Lilly a stuffed Lady from Lady and the Tramp and Hazel picked out the cute little cat from Aristocats (with some help from Lilly). 

When  Matt got "home" from work the kids were dying to go swimming. The kids all had a great time!

 This picture makes me laugh because I have a problem when taking pictures. I never look at the camera. Where am I looking? I'm so weird. I thought I was looking right at it. I even tried to blame Matt. That never works. :(

Afterward Matt took them in the sauna or "stinky room" as Cal called it.

Our last day in Chicago, we hung out in the hotel room while Hazie napped. 

As soon as Hazel was up we headed down to the pool. For the third time we had the place to ourselves. I'm pretty sure that I had the only children in the entire hotel. 

 After the pool we had to check out. Matt was working so it was a little challenging to get three kids and all our luggage out of the room but we made it with 10 seconds to spare! 

We had about 4 hours to kill before Matt would be done working... and it was raining so I wasn't quite sure how I was going to keep the kids entertained. I decided that we were tough and could walk to Navy Pier. By the time we got there the sun had come out and we enjoyed a nice lunch at McDonalds... well Lilly and I did. Cal and Hazel had fallen asleep... again.
