37. New PR for mile (6:10 in 1994)
The only time I remember recording a mile time (that was respectable) was my freshman year of high school. We ran it in gym class and I had the fastest time in our class at 6:10. Aurora Christian's small class size and general lack of interest from most of the other boys didn't make this that exceptional of a feat. Trust me.
This morning, I decided to try and do a sub-six minute mile. I started by jogging a half mile to get to a flatter part of my neighborhood. I stretched out for a few minutes and after waiting to make sure that nobody was looking, I went for it.
I started my timer and took off across Townline road. I looked at my watch constantly to make sure that I was pacing right. Not once during this mile was I comfortable. I run a lot and I know what my breathing and heart are supposed to feel like. Both were going crazy. I did the first half mile in 2:51 and finished at 5:54 for the full mile. Man, did it feel good to stop.
I was happy to get this checked off on the first try. I know that if I trained some more (or if this wasn't my first run since the crazy relay this weekend) I could cut that time down even more. It's just a matter if I WANT to go for it again :)

Great time!
Are you going to try to get under 20 min for a 5K now? You can do it!
Not sure about that. That's quite a goal!
