I cannot believe that our little Lilly went from this...
to this...
How is that possible!?!
Even in the middle of my disbelief that we have a six-year-old we still had a really wonderful celebrating what a blessing her life is for us.
We continued the waking up to birthday balloons tradition. Since there is a helium shortage in the country we made due with hanging the balloons from the ceiling. And yes... that's Lilly sleeping and I did turn on the light to get a good picture. ;) Don't worry... she's out.
A happy breakfast for the birthday girl...
Then it was off to school. I seem to think there was a rule that kids don't need to go to school on their birthday's but Matt had never heard of such a rule. Hmmm...
He did however surprise Lilly with a happy meal at lunch and stuck around to eat with her.
As soon as Lilly got home from school it was time to party. We opened presents and enjoyed a little cake in our birthday hats.
Then it was time for one last gift that was hidden (not very well) in the yard. The kids found it right away. ;)
After presents we went to Chili's for her birthday dinner... and because they had a special kids-eat-free night. Matt and I got our meals and the kids (even Hazel) got a meal for free! Also, Matt thinks the picture of Lilly in the drivers seat is cute but it makes me want to cry. She's growing up too fast - like I need a visual reminder.
Lilly and Daddy showing off their matching bracelets before our food arrived.
After dinner it was time for the thing Lilly has been asking for and asking for...
A BETA FISH!!!
So we went over to Petco so she could pick out the perfect one. She picked a blue one - her favorite color (for today) and named him Kissy Lips.
Lilly got to stay up late to help move Kissy Lips into his new place and then to get measured... just a hair short of 4 feet tall! She loved the special time with just mom and dad and we did too. I miss her now that she's at school. I'm not a fan of how long the school day is. Whatever happened to half-day Kindergarten?!?
A special day for a very special girl!
