Matt and I took our first trip without Lilly last weekend to New York City. It was so hard to leave her for the five days we would be gone but we all managed to get by. We did so many things while we were there and really enjoyed the time alone.
The trip went very quickly and we packed in so many fun things. We also had our share of crazy weather - record breaking temps reaching 100 degrees. We tried to do our share of sightseeing while also trying to stay cool. Here are a few highlights of our favorite things.
- Going to The Late Show with David Letterman (airing June 13th). Because I was pregnant one of the interns grabbed us out of line and we got preferred seating in the theater instead of standing out on the hot humid street for 2 hours!
- Game at Yankee Stadium at 1:00 in the afternoon in 100 degree temps!
- Going down to Rockefeller Center to watch the Today Show taping.
- Touring NBC Studios including the set of Saturday Night Live.
- Riding the subway all over Manhattan (I loved this part despite how dirty it was).
- Seeing the Statue of Liberty and riding the Staten Island Ferry
- Eating Ribs for the first time!
- Going to the Tom's Diner (the diner used in Seinfeld)
- Seeing Time Square and other popular parts of NYC
- Matt enjoyed running in Central Park (3 miles one day and 6 miles the day he got lost - oops!)
- Going to Lion King on Broadway! Absolutely AMAZING!!!
- Mets Game at Shea Stadium where Matt caught a foul ball! He was so thrilled!
It was a great time but I missed home much of the time. New York is great but I'd take Milwaukee over it any day!
