Independence Day

We have had such a great 4th of July weekend - and it's not even over! We started our festivities on Thursday afternoon as we went to our friends house for their annual 3rd of July celebration. We enjoyed tons of great food, fun and friends. Lilly loved seeing the Menomonee Falls Parade and picking up all the candy thrown her way.

On the 4th, we were up and out of the house bright and early to continue the tradition of running in the Hales Corners Firecracker 4! It's a 4 mile run that we do with our good friends Andy and Melissa Boeck. Melissa and I didn't run this year since we are both preggers and it's a good excuse not to. But all the guys were up for it. Matt beat his time from last year by 5 minutes when he finished in 30 minutes and 27 seconds. Way to go, hon! I was so proud and surprised to see him cross the finish line so early.

After the run we had a great breakfast back at the Boecks. Melissa's mom treated us all to a delicious egg dish (Thanks Mrs. MacKay!). We all enjoyed spending the morning outside relaxing and watching the kids play . Later that afternoon, after another parade, Melissa and Andy had everyone back to their house yet again for a cookout and a rather competitive game of backyard volleyball.

Finally, it was time for the fireworks. We staked out our spots and waiting for the show to begin. Hales Corners always puts on a great display and this year was no exception. Lilly was a little frightened at first but eventually warmed up to the noise and bright lights.

The whole day was such blessing and we had a wonderful time. Happy Birthday America!
