30. Run a mile in under 7 minutes

I just got back from a long weekend of sleepless nights while camping. It's 85 degrees outside and I just finished an entire row of Chewy Chips Ahoy cookies. The conditions don't get much better than that to attempt to run my fastest mile since freshman year of high school! I'm currently training for a marathon. I'm in shape, but haven't really tried for speed. Today was an off-day for my training so I thought this would be a good shot to go run REALLY hard for just 1 mile. I'd never started off so fast! After about 1 block, I didn't think I'd be able to keep the pace - especially with the heat. Then I started to distract my thoughts by looking at my shadow on the street - I don't like my running form but now's not the time to fix it. I try hard not to look at my Garmin watch but it's impossible not to. The first time I looked down, I had run .42 miles. Ok. I feel horrible but I think I can do it. I realized I was running at a 6:05 pace and then totally settled down to finish the mile at 6:26 - or roughly half the time it took me to walk home (13:28).
2 down - 99 to go!

Awesome Job! I'm glad to see you've still got it in you. Let's hope your running this week isn't affected by this great feat. I am sure this will not be one I will accomplish right from the start. Good Job!
