20 Miles Soaking Wet

I wasn't really looking forward to the 20 miler yesterday because rain was in the forecast for the entire weekend. I woke up at 4:45 to eat and get ready. I started out into the pouring rain and made my way downtown. I was in a daze for the first 5 or 6 miles. The rain and darkness made it hard to enjoy any scenery or surroundings. I just put my head down and ran. It poured for the entire run and, in a way, I enjoyed it more. I didn't see many other runners out - it made me feel more hard-core. Gretchen picked me up in Fox Point again and she took this picture of me soaking wet. 3 weeks till the big day!

Way to go Matt! I never had to run in all of my training. I can't imagine how tough it was for you to keep your focus. What were your mile splits? Did you set a PR? Great Job!

Yeah... no personal record... It's kind of hard to run fast when your jumping over and around giant puddles for 3 hours straight. I averaged a 9:35 / mile.
