Eric did a great job explaining the circumstances of our run in his blog so I'll try not to duplicate his post. I can say that this was the most fun I've had doing a marathon in my short running career. It was great to be with Eric the entire way and to not pressure ourselves with a finishing time goal. The course was challinging but the time went by fast because you had to focus on every step of the 26.2 miles to be sure you didn't fall.
This is what 90% of the course looked like - except usually hillier!

Here I am with 2 miles to go.

This was a shot running through the forest with 1 mile to go.

Finally done! I'm so proud of Eric for doing it on an injured foot!

I did manage to set a couple of personal records on this run:
- Most aid station stops on a run - Every single one on the course
- Longest time spent at one aid staion - Roughly 4 or 5 minutes
- Most food eaten on a run - 12 fig newtons at just ONE aid station
- Most "Farmer blows" on a run - 70 or 80?
- Most fun - I definitely want to do this race again!

I'm so glad you had fun and didn't get hurt. What a positive outlook you have in miserable circumstances. You showed good judgement in stopping and eating frequently. I'm proud of you, Matt. I love you very much.
Those fig newtons were delicious! I still can't believe we stayed at that one spot for 5 minutes. At that point I realized how much you could not call it a race, but rather a run.
You keep doing those runs (vs.races) if you can still have fun and not get hurt. I never knew you liked fig newtons (or I've forgotten).
By the way, what is a farmer blow?
blowing your nose with one finger - very distinguished
Once again, I am apalled! Not only do you run marathons, but you even run them IN THE SNOW! Amazing or crazy?! I'm not sure...
Definitely not amazing... just crazy
