Check out this article I found 4 months after the fact. I caught a lot of flack for how early I signed up for the indoor marathon. It's good to see that Tom Held from the Journal Sentinel had the same expectations as I did for the race filling up early.

Race to enter Icebreaker Indoor Marathon starts Monday morning
I'm anxious to see just how fast area runners scoop up the 100 slots open for Milwaukee's first indoor running marathon and whether the demand will create the sort of all-night, line-standing usually devoted to playoff tickets and rock concerts.
The InStep Running and Walking Centers put the entry forms for the Icebreaker online over the weekend and will start taking registrations at 10 a.m. Monday, in person at the shop, 403 E. Buffalo St., Milwaukee, and via FAX, 414-220-4161. The details on the race and registration are available here.
Some might not expect a huge demand for what amounts to a $75 ticket to run around the track at the Pettit Ice Center 94 or 95 times (they're working on that distance question) but runners tend to gravitate to unusual and first-time events. Plus, races with an entry limit seem to build up an inherent demand.
My prediction: the line won't be particularly long when InStep opens Monday morning, but the indoor marathon field will be filled in two hours.

I think there is still a valid argument that you are stupid - maybe just not in this instance. :)
So, how many people have actually signed up for this event? Were you and the reporter correct in your assumptions? That is what could determine your mental state. I truly don't believe that you're stupid, just easily excited and maybe overreactive. I love you!
As of yesterday, the race was still not filled up. Feel free to sign up... the more the merrier!
