Baby V. Food

Calvin is into baby food big time. As soon as he sees me with any kind of food or eating utensil he immediately emits this high-pitched scream that sounds a lot like a velociraptor. If I take too long getting the food from the bowl into his mouth the scream only gets worse. It's a little weird since he is usually a very calm baby that doesn't make much fuss about anything. Surprisingly, despite his new love of food. Calvin is still the runt compared to his sister. At six months both Lilly and Calvin came in at 27 1/2 inches tall (in the 90th percentile) but Cal weighs just 14 pounds 10 ounces (in the 15th percentile) a full 2 pounds less than big sis at the same age. So it's a good thing he's got a big appetite now... he's got some catching up to do.

In other news... Matt has also found a new love... a new show "Man V. Food". I think that he has a little crush on the witty host but his love goes much deeper than that. The premise of the program that showcases local culture and flavor is for the host, Adam Richman to take on the city's toughest food challenge. The show we just finished watching was one in which Adam finished a 72 ounce steak, baked potato, side salad, and a roll in under 30 minutes. Matt watches in eager anticipation and comments at least 30 times how hungry he is and every once in a while how he thinks he could do it as well. It's a perfect show for Matt who fairly regularly tells me the mass quantities of food he thinks he could eat - things like a 2 pound box of Lilly's goldfish crackers or almost any amount of chocolate (which I absolutely believe).

I'm a Man vs. Food guy too. He's a real guy, not some groomed professional eater. He's pretty funny as well.

As far as eating the whole carton of goldfish. I think Matt could do it.
