Wednesday Morning...

Calvin woke up yesterday feeling a little warm and as soon as breakfast was over seemed like he needed more sleep. So around 9am I put him back to bed. He fell asleep right away and I didn't hear anything until around 10am. It started as a little cry then stopped... then I heard him screaming. I ran back to his room to see what would cause him to scream and I found him lying face down in his crib barely moving. I turned him over to find that his eyes were rolled back in his head and his was still not moving. Terrified, I called 911. I was so scared for my little Calvin that I had a hard time getting the information out that they needed. I couldn't think of our address for what seemed like forever.  I knew that his fever must have spiked so I took off his jammies and tried to cool him down. I tried to pick him up in hopes of consoling him but he was so stiff and unresponsive that I set him back down. By now Matt was home. Amazingly, Matt had run errands before work and just happened to be passing by the house when I texted him. Soon after, the paramedics came in and looked him over, checked his heart rate, took blood and put him on oxygen for a while. They asked me to hold him again and when I did, he couldn't even hold his head up, his body was limp and he's never felt so heavy. It seemed like forever but he eventually calmed down a little more and the paramedics were able to examine him again. They determined that it was most likely a Febrile Siezure that he had experienced and although they are terrifying to witness, they have no long term effects and are usually not very serious. After the paramedics left I was able to calm Cal down and get him to take a nap and get some much needed rest. When he woke up later that afternoon, he was smiling and happy. Praise the Lord! We were so scared but God is good and Calvin is going to be okay. Then today,  after all that, I ended up taking Calvin to the doctor for what looked like pink eye. Turns out he does have pink eye as well as a double ear infection and some chest congestion; amazingly he is still smiling and playful. Praise God for His provision for our family... amazing how the Lord cares for us.

So... the Weis family will be laying low for the next few days. Lilly is healthy right now but we have a prescription for pink eye medicine for her just in case. Hopefully we won't have to use it.

Thanks so much for your prayers. We love you all.

This scares me just reading it -I can't imagine. So glad he is fine and that God was watching over him.

Oh Gretch. I feel this so deeply. Praise Jesus that he is OK. I'm sorry you had to experience this. Is this something that may happen again that you need to watch for? Love you.

Thanks Roomies... I know you must feel this Christie. I'm so glad you are home. Now we know that he is susceptible the chances of it happening again are pretty likely but at least I will know what it is and how to handle it. Love you both too!
