Matt and I spent last weekend in Miami, Florida with our friends, The DeGraff's. We had a great vacation. It was the first time in over two years that we've gone somewhere without the kids. It was really hard for me to leave them. I missed them like crazy but it was a wonderful blessing to get away. Thank you, thank you, thank you Mom, Dad and Uncle Jimi for watching Lilly and Cal and being so great with them.
Our room at The Deauville Resort.
(I don't know why I always like to have a picture of the room. I feel like it helps me remember the trip better).

We did three things on this trip.
1.) We played Euchre. I'm sure Matt and Bud know exactly how many games since they were keeping track on how many times they beat us. Regardless it was a lot.
We played at night on the patio by the pool.
We played in the shade, covered in towels, to let our sun-burnt skin heal.
We played in our hotel room, during a storm, with chairs stolen from the lobby.
2.) We ate. And at several different restaurants. This night in particular was an Argentinian place. We had so many places to choose from and all with in walking distance. We also hit the nearby Publix for some junk food... and bananas.
After dinner we stopped to buy two lotto tickets. Then we talked about how we were going to spend our 175 million dollar prize. Turns out we didn't win after all. Bummer.
3.) Lastly, we played and layed at the beach. The water was gorgeous and so clear. The waves were amazing and even the stormy weather couldn't keep us away. It felt so surreal to be in the ocean as the rain was pouring down.
Matt thought I was dumb for taking this picture but this isn't a view you get very often in Wisconsin.
I like this one. ;) I think we told them to flex.
This was the first time I've layed out on a beach (or anywhere for that matter) since Lilly was born. It was amazing. I read books, and napped, and relaxed. Wonderful.
We did also go to a ball game, of course! Matt's 20th ballpark (my 11th). The Marlins came back to win it in the bottom of the 9th but even more exciting than that was how we got there. IN A TAXI!!! It was my very first time and I'll never forget it.
I'd like to thank a few people for helping to make this happen. First of all - The Miami City Planner - for making it impossible to get to the Sun Life Stadium on one single bus and in under three hours. Bud - for being so "frugal" and calling every cabby in town to find one that would give us a flat rate. Matt and Jes - for sharing in my excitement and taking the pictures to commemorate the experience. And finally... Rolando, my Taxi Cab driver. Thank you for getting out of the car, in oncoming traffic, to take a picture with me. It made my vacation. Gracias.
