After church, we celebrated Mother's Day with a long hike through Lapham Peak State Park.
We started at the Lapham Peak Tower. This is the same giant structure that I ran up during the Trailbreaker Marathon a few weeks ago. Really good memories from that day... I was happy to have time to actually enjoy it this time.
We could see the Milwaukee skyline and Holy Hill from the top.
Lilly and I went up twice. She wanted to go up again - but of course only if her daddy came with :)
My view the whole afternoon. I carry a compact mirror so I can check out what Cal was up to in the backpack.
Trust me. Carrying that thing for hours at a time was a workout.
Taking a water break - If Lilly had her way, we would have taken 2 cars so we could haul home all of the acorns she found. She could've stayed in the woods for a week straight.
Acorn tricks.
The long staircase to the peak.
Although the hike was just over 3 hours (and not the four I had as a goal), I'm going to mark it done because I think the conversion rate between a 3 hour hike with 2 young kids and a 4 hour hike solo is pretty comparable. These 2 did so well without naps that I'm sure we'll make many more Sunday afternoon trips this summer.

I don't think your conversion rate is correct. I think a three hour hike with two little ones converts to far beyond four hours. Great job! Looks like everyone had a lot of fun.
Thanks - I couldn't believe how well they both did. You should come with us sometime!
