Projects...

I've been in this phase lately that feels a lot like nesting... only I'm not pregnant - that is for all my friends who jump to those kind of conclusions right away :). Anyhow, my projects have taken over the basement and make me want spring to come even more... nothing like spray painting in a poorly ventilated basement. We've also become regulars at Goodwill.  I go there about 3 times a week. We usually walk out with only one or two items but they are always fun little finds that keep us going back. A few weeks ago, Lilly found a talking Dora house for $4.99 we got home, opened it all up and found it included Dora's parents, Diego, Boots and of course... DORA! Then today I found brand new paint rollers for $.49 each!

So, here is a quick look at my projects because if I don't show someone I might die.

Remember this dresser...                                      that I turned into this...
... then I decided that was way too busy for my taste (I'm a boring solid-color-kinda-girl)... so I painted and distressed and then glazed using a technique my sister-in-law, Melissa, told me about. So the finished project looks like this. I use the word finished lightly... just in case.

Other additions to the bedroom include...

This lamp from The GW. I haven't bought a lamp in a long time and maybe never at full price.  I didn't realize how great of a deal this was until I browsed the lamp aisle at Target the other day. WHOA!!! Lamp bases alone are around $30 bucks! So now I love my $5.99 lamp and $4.99 shade all the more. Plus, thanks to the miracle of spray-paint I got to pick the color... again being the daring person I am... I chose white.
I'm not sure what this thing is but it was only $1.99 so I spray-painted it white and plan to hang it over our bed.

I've also been working on Lilly's side of the room. She's needed a lamp for her bedroom. Since I found a new lamp for Matt's side of the bed. I had his old lamp that I spray-painted white (hmmm... this is getting repetitive) and then glued some rick rack and pom-poms on the bottom. Oh... and Lilly's side table I did a few weeks ago. I think I got it at a garage sale years ago... so I painted it green replaced the knob and decoupaged the top with some scrapbook paper that Lilly picked out.

Next up... Matt's Dad made this stool for us a few years ago. I painted it last summer but the green apple color I chose was just a little bright for us so I toned it down by lightly brushing some stain over it. Then, I added the stencil letters just to spice it up a little.

Also... I recovered these chairs I bought at a garage sale and we moved the "tiny table" into the dining room.

During my decoupage stage, Joy came over to work on something she was decoupaging and I needed a project so I took a few of Matt and my old race bibs and put them on this old Ikea side table. I thought it was a fun little project and Mark Grace seems to like it!
So, that's all for now. I'm waiting for some paint to dry on a bulletin board I bought at Goodwill today and a lamp waiting for a second coat of spray paint. I'd like to finish those little projects and then hopefully Matt will sign off on some of the more time consuming projects I have in mind. (fingers crossed) :)

Beautiful job, Gretch! I think Lilly's table might be my favorite. Oh, and the kids' table too. You're so crafty!! Love it!
