Shoe Graveyard

Oh yeah... this is happening.  This post will serve 2 purposes: 1.) To give a shout out to all the shoes I've worn in my relatively short running career and 2.)  Show off pictures of gross, old, running shoes sitting on Gretchen's side of the bed.

This is the first pair of running shoes that I bought in my life (with the intention of actually running in them).  I bought them to train and race in my first half marathon in September of 2007.

Acics Gel - I bought these to train and race my 2nd half marathon in April of 2008.

Saucony Omni 7 - I ran my first (Milwaukee), second (Rails to Trails) and fourth (Icebreaker Indoor #1) marathons in these.

Adidas Response Trail - I trained and ran my 3rd marathon (Tecumseh Trail) in these.  Still the most fun I've had at any marathon!

2nd pair of Saucony Omni 7's - Ran 5th (Birmingham), 6th (Knoxville) and 7th (Illinois) marathons in these.  Did you stop reading yet?

The myth... The Legend...HOLMES.  Adidas Sequence #1 - ran 8th (Chicago), 9th (Indianapolis), 10th (Memphis), 11th (Mississippi Blues) and 12th (Icebreaker Indoor #2).  The first shoes that made our family's Shoe Hall of Fame (Under construction).  They performed so well that I bought them again in a different color (pictured at the top of the post).

Also, if you're wondering why I have so many shoes for just under 3 years of running, it's to help protect myself from injury.  Running shoes lose their shock absorption, cushion and support between 400 and 500 miles of use.  Now you know :)
